I did not grow up in a liturgical church, so I have found liturgical seasons and their symbols rich and profound at times. I love the image of the Advent candles, a new one lighted each Sunday, the brightness of the light increasing with our anticipation of our celebration of the Incarnation.

I was a Christian education director for ten years, and taught children's Sunday school for at least 15 years. Teaching liturgical seasons was one of my favorite subjects, because I loved the way the children embraced the wonder and mystery that the liturgical cycle so aptly illustrates.

Flames are affixed with Velcro, so that you can add a flame a week. This is especially fun with children, but the whole congregation will enjoy the use of this scapular as you light their way through Advent. There is a handy pocket on the back side of the stole for flame storage.

NOTE: If you prefer a scapular without the rose candle for Gaudete Sunday, there is a drop-down menu where you can make that choice. The rose candle will be replaced with another shade of purple to coordinate with the other candles.
