In the New Testament, the Holy Spirit is compared to a dove, rushing wind and tongues of flame. I am especially intrigued by the concept of wind. We cannot see the wind; we can only see the effect of the wind. So also we cannot see the Holy Spirit; we can only bear witness to the effect of the Spirit as we experience the change that takes place in our lives as the Spirit works in us to remake us in the image of Christ. We can also testify to the Spirit's equipping of all the ministers of the church, yet we cannot see the Spirit as the Spirit acts.
